Lately, we’ve been talking about all things NUP and one thing is clear: divorce professionals believe in LOVE!
When it comes to attracting clients to your prenup and relationship agreement services, everything starts with the message you send—on social media, on your website, and in the way you present yourself as a divorce professional. That messaging needs to be positive and intentional from the first “Hello” to the final “Have a Great Life!”
So, what if we framed prenups in a way that truly reflects what they’re about?
-
We honour THEIR values and commitments to one another.
-
We invite THEM to discover what they need (and want).
-
We listen first…
-
…then offer a process for reaching a Relationship Agreement that reflects the lovers who are signing it.
A new Approach to Prenups: One rooted in Love, NOT Fear
For years, I’ve been working to shift the narrative around prenups and relationship agreements. This work started when clients shared a powerful realization with me:
💬 “I wish we had done this earlier.”
Many told us that what’s inside the Our Family in Two Homes workbook could have helped them stay together—not just navigate separation. That feedback led me and my daughter, Taylor Smiley, to create something new:
Designing Our Future Together - a workbook for couples to prepare for essential conversations with their lawyer, mediator, financial advisor, or therapist.
How the Workbook helps Couples
The process starts with reflections and fun exercises to "prime the pump" for deeper discussions. Then, it moves into key questions and information that help couples make thoughtful, informed decisions—with the support of their advisors.
Here’s what clients have told me:
-
“It helped us relax and feel less threatened when discussing the prenup.”
-
“We talked about things we hadn’t even thought of.”
-
My favorite feedback: “We laughed. We cried. We had the healthiest ‘fight’ ever!”
A new Mindset for Professionals
Working in the prenup and relationship agreement space requires a different mindset and skillset. Encouraging clients to prepare ahead of time, through personal reflection and meaningful conversations, helps:
-
Ease defensiveness
-
Open up communication
-
Craft the best #ConsciousContract #Prenup #RelationshipAgreement
